  • Oakland’s Art Murmur. From 7-10 pm on the first Friday of each month, galleries all over Oakland open their doors for viewing. There are street performances, single night art installations and lots of street action. For locations log in to www.oaklandartmurmur.com
  • The Alameda Point Antiques and Collectibles Faire. The first Sunday of every month from 6 am to 3 pm, hundreds of dealers and thousands of collectors meet in Alameda (a short trip across the Oakland Estuary) for the Alameda Point Antiques and Collectibles Faire, one of the northern California’s top collectibles fair.   • The Berkeley Parent’s Network offers thousands of pages of recommendations and advice conributed by members of the Berkeley Parents Network, a parent-to-parent email network.   • Temescal Redevelopment Area. Several neighborhoods in Oakland have been earmarked for redevelopment. The north Oakland neighborhood of the Temescal, next well-know Rockridge and with its own BART station, is seeing rapid chages with support from the city of Oakland.
